Arizona Cannabis Business Opportunities in 2021

On November 3, 2020, voters across the United States had the chance to increase access to Cannabis for both Medical and Adult-Use. These states are Arizona, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota.

Arizona voters had the opportunity to vote on Proposition 207, also known as the “Smart and Safe Arizona Act” to legalize recreational marijuana in the state. Prop 207 to legalize recreational marijuana passed with a 60% for and 40% against.

Prop 207 was filed by Smart and Safe Arizona on September 26th, 2019. The passing of Prop 207 legalizes the use and possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults twenty-one (21) years of age and older.

There will be an opportunity to apply for Marijuana Establishment Licenses starting next year in January 2021.

The state will start accepting applications for marijuana establishment licenses from early applicants beginning January 19, 2021, through March 9, 2021.
