Alabama: The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission voted in September to impose a stay on the issuance of licenses that were awarded in August. That stay is in effect at least until the opening of the state’s legislative session in February. The Alabama Medical Cannabis Coalition has heard the pleas from patients who suffer with pain. They’re asking the governor to call a special session instead of waiting months for the legislative session that’s further delayed the process for those with qualifying medical conditions.
Florida: With more than a million valid signatures, a recreational marijuana legalization initiative seems poised to pop up on Florida’s 2024 ballot, but it has one last hurdle to clear — a legal challenge from state Attorney General Ashley Moody. The state Supreme Court is now slated to hear the case on Nov. 8.
Kentucky: The governor of Kentucky has announced the launch of a new government website for people to track the upcoming implementation of the state’s medical marijuana program, as well as the creation of a workgroup that will study cannabis policy developments in the state and across the country.
