No Legalization
Kansas: The Kansas Silver Haired Legislature met at the Statehouse in Topeka and voted to advocate for those issues during the legislative session that starts in January. The group also approved a resolution urging lawmakers to legalize medical marijuana, saying it is vital to seniors suffering from conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and chronic pain. During testimony, advocates of the drug also praised its impact on veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Medical
Alabama: The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) hopes to issue licenses for medical marijuana cultivators and distributors by the end of 2023, officials with the agency said last week.

Florida: Smart & Safe Florida has collected enough petition signatures to put the measure on the November 2024 ballot but needs Florida Supreme Court approval of the proposed wording. Justices are scheduled to hold a hearing on November 8th.

New York: New York State’s Office of Cannabis Management recently opened up its application process to the public. Community boards get the applications first and community boards like this one in Queens have been inundated with requests. Members say they don’t have the staff to process applications in 30-days as first requested by the state.
