North Carolina is pending legalization! A Medical Marijuana bill, Senate Bill 3, is making its’ way through legislation in hopes of legalizing medical marijuana in the state of North Carolina. If passed, patients will access medical cannabis through state licensed businesses. The program will be regulated by a newly formed North Carolina Medical Care Commission. The medical marijuana law will officially go into effect on December 1, 2023. By August of 2024 the rules and regulations for the program must be developed.

- Distribution of cannabis products.
The state will issue up to 10 Cannabis supplier licenses.
On the other hand, for those inclined towards scientific exploration and quality assurance, the legislation also offers the opportunity to establish a Testing Laboratory, where rigorous testing and analysis of cannabis products can be conducted to ensure.
- Safety,
- Potency
- Overall product quality.
The state will issue 5 independent testing laboratories to be licensed.
The state of North Carolina legalized low-THC, high-CBD medical cannabis in 2015, through a Legislative ballot, House Bill 766, but failed to establish a state-wide dispensary system for patients to legally access CBD products.
